Combining Metal and Technology to Create a Unique Corporate Building

Union Industrial, designed by Popching Construction Co., Ltd, is a corporate building that stands out with its unique metal perforated plate facade. The exterior of the building is covered with a whole metal curtain wall made of perforated plates, creating a striking visual effect. This metal curtain not only provides shading for the interior but also allows people inside to intuitively feel the time and temperature changes of the outside world.

What sets Union Industrial apart is the use of metal perforated plates to create a facade that resembles a printed circuit board. This design choice not only reflects the client's business in electronic components but also adds a touch of modernity and technology to the building. The metal curtain wall interacts with sunlight, creating different looks throughout the day and indirectly projecting the corporate logo on the building.

In addition to its visual appeal, the metal perforated plate facade offers functional benefits. The perforated plates provide shading for the interior, reducing the need for artificial lighting and creating a comfortable working environment. The facade also acts as a rain shed, with a QR code on the front of the train shed at the first-floor entrance. This QR code can be scanned to link to the company's website, adding an interactive element to the design.

The realization of Union Industrial involved the use of various building materials, including reinforced concrete structure, fire-resistant materials, stainless steel perforated plates, and transparent glass. The metal perforated plates are coated with three layers of fluorocarbon baking paint, ensuring their color remains vibrant and resistant to fading for over 20 years. The design team also paid attention to the details, such as installing metal strips on balconies and openings to prevent rainwater from leaving traces along the exterior walls.

Union Industrial's design specifications were carefully considered to optimize both aesthetics and functionality. The building's bulk ratio and coverage ratio were taken into account to ensure an appealing exterior while allowing sunlight to reach every floor. The balconies feature colorful flashing grilles, adding a vibrant touch to the building's appearance and providing ventilation.

The interaction between Union Industrial and its surroundings is an essential aspect of the design. The unique metal perforated plate facade not only instills a sense of pride in the employees but also attracts attention and photoshoots from passersby. The QR code on the mailbox at the entrance serves as a marketing tool, linking to the company's website and promoting its culture. The design team's attention to detail, such as the metal strips and seamless snap-in aluminum cladding, ensures the building's exterior remains in pristine condition for years to come.

Union Industrial was completed in February 2022 in Taiwan. The design team's extensive research and creativity resulted in a building that perfectly embodies the client's business and values.
